Hello everyone! We’ve got a short schedule in the NBA today, but it includes a nationally televised doubleheader on NBA-TV, and there’s at least one former University of Kentucky Wildcat on each team. Let’s review the three games that will be played on this Valentine’s evening.
8:00pm ET on NBA League Pass: Toronto Raptors (32-23) at Chicago Bulls (26-29). The Bulls are fighting for their playoff lives right now, having just been at .500 and now sitting three games below. The Raptors are sitting in at fifth place in the Eastern Conference, and the Bulls are in seventh place. Patrick Patterson is out tonight with a left knee contusion for the Raptors. Dwyane Wade is out for the Bulls with a right wrist contusion, so Rajon Rondo may pick up some of those minutes.
8:00pm ET on NBA-TV: Cleveland Cavaliers (37-16) at Minnesota Timberwolves (21-34). J.R. Smith and Kevin Love are both out for the Cavaliers tonight, while Iman Shumpert returns. DeAndre Liggins is listed as a probable starter on the Cavs game notes, a big honor for the former Wildcat. Karl-Anthony Towns will start, ready to take on LeBron & co. as the Cavs fight to win the Eastern Conference title. The Wolves are short-handed as well, missing Zach LaVine and Adreian Payne. The Cavs are currently in the top spot in the Eastern Conference, and the Wolves are 13th in the Western Conference.
10:30pm ET on NBA-TV: Sacramento Kings (23-32) at Los Angeles Lakers (19-37). Sacramento is trying its hardest to make it into that eighth spot in the West so they can play in the postseason, and the Lakers are just trying to stay out of last place. This game will be worth it, though, to watch DeMarcus Cousins and Julius Randle battle in the paint. That fight is worth the price of admission. Willie Cauley-Stein and Skal Labissiere will join Boogie as reserves for the Kings. Sacramento is currently 10th place in the Western Conference, and the Lakers are 14th.
There you have it, a review of tonight’s short schedule in the NBA. Take advantage of this nationally televised doubleheader if you can! Enjoy!

University of Kentucky alumna. DeMarcus Cousins was my gateway into the NBA. Watching former Kentucky Wildcats thrive in the pros is the best.
